Welcome, world visitors, to Muskoka, Canada, for the G8 Summit, June 25-26, 2010.

Many groups in Canada are working together to provide you, our visitor, the most comfortable and productive stay in our beautiful countryside.  Canada is proud to host the 2010 Summit, and under our prime minister, Stephen Harper, various groups have been set up to make this event a success:

• The Summit Management Office, set up by the federal government to organize the Summit. Peter McGovern, Assistant Deputy Minister, is Manager of the Summit Management Office and is working on various logistics, security, and guest arrangements. An office will soon be located in Huntsville.
• Industry Minister and Member of Parliament for this region Tony Clement has a new office in Huntsville and will be very involved with organizing the visits of the delegates.
• The town of Huntsville, headed by mayor Claude Doughty, will be organizing a myriad of activities surrounding the G8 locale, as well as facilitating the smooth running of the town during such a busy time.
• Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce, guided by manager Kelly Haywood, will be supporting the activities of the SMO and playing a large role in ensuring that all visitors are welcomed and informed.
• Deerhurst Resort, the location of the Summit, where General Manager Joseph Klein will ensure the facility is ready to host the meetings and delegates.
• SMO Accommodation Manager Sheila Watson, who is working with larger resorts, hotels and motels to arrange accommodation for the official delegates to the summit.
• Muskoka Tourism under the direction of Manager Michael Lawley has been working with Sheila Watson to help source those commercial properties that would be suitable for the official delegates.
• We at Ontario Cottage Vacation Rentals are helping with organizing stays for visitors to the conference who will be staying at other accommodations such as residences, cottages, and vacation homes.

If you would like to find accommodation for the G8, please check our list of beautiful homes.  You will also be able to reference our concentric circle map to ascertain the distance to the conference centre.  Please take the time to fill out a "find accommodation" form if you require accommodation in Muskoka around the time of the G8 Summit.
