Description: Beautiful, clean Oastler Lake is
the backdrop for this three-bedroom cottage only
fifteen minutes from the town of Parry Sound.
Located near the end of a quiet bay with lovely,
western sunset views, the cottage property is well
treed to provide shade, while it has numerous deck
and dock areas where sun can be found.
The year-round cottage has a large screened
porch with glass roof to let in the sunlight. Settle
into the comfortable, new furniture to enjoy the
views of the lake. A deck off the sun-porch runs
across the front of the cottage and has ample space
for sitting to enjoy the surroundings or for dining
al fresco. A gas barbeque, swing chair with
cushions, large dining table with six chairs and
large umbrella will add to your comfort.
The cottage boasts a large, well-equipped
kitchen area that opens to the dining area and
sunken living area. A long counter between the
kitchen and dining table will ease dinner
preparations. A newer stove and refrigerator,
dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler
are provided. Ceiling skylights flood the room with
natural light, while sliding doors lead off the
dining area to a small deck at the east side of the
cottage. A laundry room off the kitchen has a washer
and dryer.
Large windows line the wall of the living area
and look toward the lake. A Muskoka stone
wood-burning fireplace creates ambience, while
numerous board games provide an alternative to the
television with its cable and DVD player.
A hall leads to the sleeping area of the
cottage. Here there are three bedrooms and a
four-piece bathroom. A sliding door leads from the
master bedroom, with its queen bed, to a small,
private deck. A second bedroom with a bunk bed
(double below and single above) also has a small,
private deck. The third bedroom is outfitted with a
sturdy bunk bed, also with a double bed in the lower
bunk.
Steps lead down from the front deck of the
cottage to the waterfront. Here, there is a second
deck with extra seating. Several steps down from
this deck lead to the forty-by- eight-foot dock. The
water off the dock is deep and is great for diving
and swimming. If there are little ones in the group,
there is an alternate swimming area on the other
side of the property. Here there is a gradual entry
into the lake and a firm sandy bottom. A canoe and
paddleboat are provided for exploring the lake.
Oastler Lake boasts some of the best fishing in the
area with its deep, clean water, and the fisher in
the group may find bass, pike, trout and musky.
Oastler Provincial Park is located
a short distance down the lake. Here there is a
sandy beach and boat launch. A second, public boat
launch is located less than a kilometre from the
cottage.
The town of Parry Sound has grocery shopping, dining
opportunities, the Festival of the Sound, the Parry
Sound Fall Festival, the Stockey Centre, and the
Thirty Thousand Islands boat cruises. The
picturesque town of Bala with its Fall Cranberry
Festival is a short drive away, and the community of
Foley has a library with internet access, a skating
rink, and beach. Rocky Crest Golf Course is ten
minutes away. The Madawaska Trail nearby provides
multi-use trail opportunities, while Massassauga
Provincial Park has wonderful canoe tripping. In the
winter, downhill skiing at St. Louis-Moonstone is
only forty-five minutes away.
