Description:
Located on quiet Otter Lake, Avalon Cottage offers a
southern view through towering pines and hemlocks. A
gentle sloping path leads to the water with its long
dock and child-friendly lakefront. The
entrance to the lake is sandy and shallow.
Two levels of
decking on the cottage invite you to relax in the
afternoon sun. Double sliding doors from the large
eating/kitchen area, where eight to ten can be
seated, take you out to the upper main level deck
and to a large, flat grassy area.
Lots of windows
in both the kitchen and the living room offer great
views of not only the lake, but also of the
squirrels and many variety of birds. Two of the four
bedrooms are located on this level. One has two
single beds, and the other has a queen bed. The
three-piece bathroom close by has a jet tub and twin
basins.
Downstairs,
more double sliding doors lead out to the lower
deck. One of the two bedrooms on this level has a
queen bed and a set of bunk beds The other
curtained sleeping area has a single bed and a queen
bed and the best view of the lake from its large
windows. There is a three-piece bathroom with a
shower on this lower level.
A public ramp
for boat launching is very close to the cottage, and
the quaint town of Dorset is just five minutes away.
Visit famous Robinson�s General Store, and the
scenic lookout tower in Dorset. Explore
world-renowned Algonquin Park, and browse antique
shops in nearby Dorset, or enjoy shopping, dining
and live theatre in Bracebridge or Huntsville, a
short drive away. For the golfer, there is a course
on Bigwin Island (the largest island on the lake) as
well as many other courses in the area.
