Description:
Dragonfly Cottage combines the charm of yesteryear
with the amenities and conveniences of today, in a
fabulous setting on Peninsula Lake only ten minutes
from the town of Huntsville.
The cottage is full of character, while at
the same time care has been taken to provide all
that is needed for a comfortable stay.
A few stone steps lead from the driveway and parking
area to a cozy, stone patio area at the entrance to
the cottage.
Here, chairs and a table offer a seating area
to catch the southern sun and a gas barbeque is
provided.
A door leads from the patio to a bright,
well-equipped kitchen with interesting dcor and
ample counter space.
A long peninsula opens to the large dining
area, where the dining table has seating for eight.
Windows extend along the walls of the dining
and kitchen areas and provide wonderful views of the
lake.
On this level of the cottage, there is a choice of
living areas.
Comfortable furniture with seating for six
can be found in the main living area.
The glassed-in Muskoka room that fronts the
cottage has an unobstructed view of the water and a
variety of comfortable seating options.
There is also a table at one end that will
seat eight.
If desired, the screened windows may be
opened to the cooling breezes.
There is one bedroom with queen bed, and one
four-piece bathroom on this main
level.
A washer and dryer are located in a utility
room near the kitchen.
Narrow, steep stairs lead to the unique, upper level
of the cottage, where there are two bedrooms - one
with a double bed and the other with two twin beds.
The windows with character open downward and
can be latched open.
This level of the cottage is not suitable for
seniors or for very young children because of the
steepness of the stairs.
Another, more gentle set of stairs leads from the
main floor to the lower level which walks out to the
lake.
Here, another large living area has windows facing
the lake. A computer desk provides a place to access
high-speed internet, and a comfortable couch and
chairs are located near the DVD player and its
viewing screen.
A table and chairs on this level provide a
place to play board games. On this level are two
bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a
king-sized bed.
There is a three-piece bathroom on this
level.
A door leads from the lower level to the level,
grassed yard facing the lake.
One side of the yard is edged with a small
creek that babbles its way to the lake.
Lovely, twig lawn furniture faces the water,
and nearby a fire-pit close to the lake will become
another favourite spot.
A second building on the property was once a
boathouse.
Now it is furnished as a large and
interesting sixth bedroom, with screened windows and
a view of the lake.
Grass leads down from Dragonfly Cottage to the
water, where there are a few stones to stabilize the
shore.
The entrance into the water is shallow, with a soft,
sandy bottom.
A long, large dock extends out from shore to
where the water is about four to five feet deep.
There is ample space to moor a boat, should
one be rented from nearby Huntsville Marine on Fairy
Lake, or Mary Lake Marina on Mary Lake.
Boat launching is also available across the
lake at Tally Ho Resort.
Peninsula Lake is part of a 40-mile chain of lakes
that includes access to the towns of Huntsville and
Port Sydney.
The southern shore of Peninsula Lake, where
Dragonfly Cottage is located is part of an historic
trail that winds its way along the front of the
cottages for those who choose to explore on foot.
The cottage is within five to ten minutes
drive of five golf courses.
The town of Huntsville offers fine dining,
quaint shops, groceries, hospital, the Pioneer
Village and live theatre.
Famous Algonquin Provincial Park is only a
thirty-minute drive, and Arrowhead Provincial Park
is fifteen minutes away.
A stay at Dragonfly Cottage will be one filled with
activity for those who choose it, or a time for
relaxing and unwinding in the peaceful setting if
that is preferred.
Come and enjoy!
