Description:
Experience grand old Muskoka in luxury and style.
Built in 1890s, this unique and stunning cottage
has been lovingly restored over a number of years to
provide luxury living without losing its original
character. This island property, just a stone's
throw from its own mainland dock, meanders over 2
acres of landscaped gardens and natural old Muskoka
woodland with towering pines, oak, maple and cedar
trees. The property has its own safe harbour with
sheltered docking for several boats, also providing
a safe swimming area from the shallow beach within
its confines.
The
accommodation is split between the original main
cottage, a private two-bedroom cottage and a
comfortable bunkie. The main cottage boasts spacious
living areas and towered master suite plus three
further bedrooms and two shower rooms, an office, a
modern luxury kitchen with granite worktops and a
full set of kitchen appliances. The dining area has
a huge country style dining table made from the
original 1800s floor boards, seating up to 12 to 14
people. The kitchen is fully equipped to cater to
this number. The main cottage has plenty of outside
seating areas for dining or just taking in the view.
It also has a screened outside area where one can be
protected from the bugs!
The
main cottage is air-conditioned and heated and has
the benefit of an automatic generator in case of
power outages.
The
separate two-bedroom cottage has a master bedroom with
queen bed with sliding doors that open to give
beautiful views to the lake. The cottage has been
designed to provide a private haven of tranquility
for a couple or small family. The second bedroom is
equipped with two single beds. There is also a shower
room. It has its own kitchen and living area and own
deck overlooking the harbour and lake.
In
addition to the above two cottages, and at an
additional cost, there is a separate three-bedroom
cottage on the estate. This cottage is situated in a
private location well away from and out of site of
the main accommodations. It is ideally suited
perhaps for independent teenagers who may wish to
keep different hours from the main group, or for
staff or just a separate family unit. There is a
full kitchen, dining area, and a lovely large
sunroom. The cottage has its own deck and
independent dock. The accommodation comprises of a
three piece bathroom, and three bedrooms, first
bedroom has a double bed, second bedroom is equipped
with bunk beds, and the third bedroom offers a
single bed.
The
entire property is accessed from its own mainland
landing which has parking for several cars and is a
two minute boat ride from the island by pontoon boat
which is provided as part of the rental.
All
in all this is an exceptional property and one of
the few remaining "Grand Old Ladies" of Muskoka.
